They both demand a particularly high standard of workmanship in their own paintings, and they aim to explain these principals in a good educational way to the pupils, giving their lessons a deep insight into the diverse painting techniques.

Their object is to make use of the good basic training which they themselves received, and now can pass it on to others. This means utilizing the classical onglaze way of painting and combining this together with the new motifs of decorating which are often requested and inspired by their pupils. By so doing, both artists encourage the use of traditional colours and their characteristics when put into use. Photographs are helpful when teaching how to understand the growth habits of plants and the anatomical features of birds, thus encouraging the pupil to study the beautiful phenomenon of nature. Great emphasis is also laid on the technique of a transparent appearance of the painting and the laying on of colour washes which make possible a third dimensional effect straight away and yet, at the same time, allowing the delicate colour changes to shimmer through.

In 2005, the Bavarian radio and television services broadcast a 10 minute feature about both of the porcelain artists and there have also been many newspaper articles documenting their achievements. There is a selection of works by both the artists on display at “Haertle Tischkultur”, a very high class porcelain retailer in the Residenzstrasse, a wealthy residential part of Munich, and because Joerg Kugelmeier is a sought after artist, he occasionally performs live demonstrations here.
